Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do MMA Fighters train with Personal Trainer?

Answer:
Our training program provides rapid results by implementing up-to-date personal training techniques, motivation, and nutritional education.

When I first came to Personal Power Training my goal was to put on some muscle and increase my strength for my sophomore year in wrestling. Wow did he deliver!! After training with Personal Power Training for 6 months I increased my muscle mass by 15 lbs. I also increased my flexibility and strength on all exercise that catered to the sport of wrestling. As a result I placed 6th place in the Arizona high school wrestling championships. I would highly recommend Personal Power Training for any athlete who wants to perform better.

~Anthony

Q: What's the difference between you and other Fitness trainers?

Answer:
Most Personal Trainers train their clients the same way that they train themselves. In reality, everyone has different goals and needs as individuals, so our training programs will be different. This is not a "1 fits all approach" program. Each client receives a completely custom-designed workout and nutritional program. Most Personal Trainers have their clients perform the same workout every time, over and over again, for months or even years. Personal Power Training clients enjoy an ever-changing workout as there body goes through rapid changes. To get the results you desire, you need to call and schedule a fitness assessment.

Personal Power Training will get you in shape!! After a short time with our Trainer, I was able to see results and on the way to dramatic success. With a simple eating plan, especially if you lead a busy lifestyle, training was really enjoyable. The Trainer Knew how to get your body to respond to workouts, and he had many different exercises I have never utilized before. In 5 weeks with my trainer I was able to lose 14 lbs while gaining 3 lbs of muscle, and lowering my blood pressure. I strongly recommend, regardless of fitness level. I'm down to 209 right now! Thanks again, Personal Power Training!

~John

Q: What is a training session with Personal Power Training like?

Answer:
The answer is simple; there is nothing typical about a training session with Personal Power Training! Every workout is specifically tailored to each and every individual client’s goals and needs. We take the time to plan and schedule what will be included in a day’s workout for all of his clients. The individual will not know what to expect from their workout, other than the fact that it will be an hour long session comprised of stretching, weight pumping, plyometric exercises, and/or cardio-vascular exercises. Our Trainers have hundreds of different exercises and techniques that he has learned over the years to help his clients attain their goals. All our Trainers have professional schooling and certifications, and his experiences competing in body building competitions, Personal Power Training brings a vast wealth of knowledge and experience to all of our client’s workout sessions.

In addition to the rigorous hour-long training session you will have, Personal Power Training gives advice on nutrition and healthy living during the training session. Always tough, but always in a positive, productive way, Personal Power Training personal trainers will motivate, support, reinforce, and even aggravate, individuals at times in order to help them reach their fitness goals. But, when it has all said and done, Personal Power Training successfully helps each and every one of our clients to attain their goals. These goals are reached through determination and intensity on the part of Personal Power Training personal traienrs and the client! A word from Personal Power Training...

In order to accurately help my clients achieve their goals, a complete assessment of the clients' fitness level must be compiled and evaluated. In order to accomplish this, numerous factors are taken into account and analyzed. Such factors include nutritional assessment; coupled with guidance and motivation tailored to specifically meet the needs of the client. Additionally, measurements of body fat percentage, blood pressure, and resting heart rates are considered. Posture analysis and corrective stretching is determined and designed specifically to meet the unique needs of each person. In addition to the fitness assessment and analysis, demonstration of all exercises is performed in order to better help my clients achieve their goals. When combined all together, a complete, overall health analysis is provided and tailored to the specific needs and goals of my clients.

Dancing with the stars Season 7 Cast

Dancing With the Stars' Season 7 cast announced

Still in it: Kim Kardashian's foot injury won't keep her off the dance floor.

The cast for Season 7 of "Dancing with the Stars" was announced this morning on ABC's "Good Morning" with a few surprises. Mainly, reality TV Celebrity Kim Kardashian -- who had been rumored for days to be on the show -- actually suffered an injury (she cut her foot on Sunday night, but it was not severe enough to keep her out of the competition.)

"I will be able to dance," she proclaimed! Whew, wouldn't want to disappoint the male viewership.

Dancing requires great discipline and athletic abilities like coordination, balance, flexibility, speed, agility.  As a Fitness Trainer who have trained many top dancing celebrities it takes a beating on the body and I guess we will find out which one of course will endure the commitment and look the best to the judges. Well that is if it's not rigged it is Hollywood and entertainment for a reason and there the best at doing it and making money at is as well.  Much success and I say victory to the one that puts in the most effort and gives there best.  though the athletes really do have an unfair advantage because they know there bodies and know how to move, though can't wait to see a big man like warren Sapp move I guarantee he will be great on his feet.

Here is the list:

Kim Kardashian, reality TV star

Cloris Leachman, Oscar-winning actress

Maurice Greene, Olympic sprinter,

Lance Bass, former N' Sync star

Rocco DiSpirito, TV chef

Warren Sapp, NFL star

Misty May-Treanor, Olympic beach volleyballer

Toni Braxton, Grammy award-winning R&B star

Cody Linley, that cute kid from "Hannah Montana" show

Ted McGinley, veteran actor (who I hated on "Happy Days")

Brooke Burke, actress/TV personality

Jeffrey Ross, celebrity roaster and comedian

Susan Lucci, "All My Children" star

"Dancing with the Stars" premieres at 8 p.m. Sept. 22 on ABC-TV, followed by a performance show on Sept. 23 and the first results show on Sept. 24.

Tight Buns, Tiny waist, and firm thighs workout

Ladies always want these secret workouts that get the those secret results.

hate to break it to you women though this stuff is super easy to achieve, I can close my eye's and be upside down and still teach you exactly what you need to do to get these amazing results.

the biggies issue which I'm sure everyone hates more than anything why people don't get those tight buns, a tiny waist and firm thighs is themselves.  People's emotional issues let there own mind cause distractions or they fight against themselves to not want to do what is right to get the results they want.

so it's not an issue of the body because the body responds if it does the right thing on a mental level and on a nutritional level and eating properly can be fought so much on the emotional mental level than on the physical level.  so if you want results and want the best results and for you to maintain it for life.

get your mind right, because I have all what you need to know to get the rest in shape.  The mind is everything to get what you want so like I said get your mind right and than you can come get those tight buns, tiny waist, and firm thighs right away.

Emril Green on Planet Green

Emril Green

Call me crazy though I'm sitting here watching planet green and thinking why are we having a fat guy teach healthy cooking?
by watching the show I can see why he may talk about eating organic but healthy it's not up to par I'm sure it taste amazing though shouldn't we have a chef or someone on staff teaching Emril how to cook and prepare healthy food to teach others what it takes to be fit, healthy, and live green.

is this another Hollywood spoof to get people interested and confuse people more, because who should we be listening to for our advice on health....... hmmmmmmmm other healthy people and I know this is a tough thing because what is health what is proper nutrition.  Most experts or so called experts can't even answer this question.  Because we have so many different idea's what is healthy.

well let's start off with the basics of what isn't healthy for your body

Top 10 things you shouldn't eat if you want to be healthy.
  1. Refined sugars, flours
  2. sugar, sweets, candy, soda's
  3. processed food (this means anything altered from mother nature)
  4. packaged food
  5. anything with a food label on it
  6. Grain fed meat
  7. farm raised fish
  8. Pasteurized milk products
  9. Alcohol, Drugs, stimulants
  10. vegetable oils
Ok, who cares what we shouldn't eat let's focus on the positive what is the best food for our bodies!!

Lucky 7 foods you should learn to love and only eat, well at least 80% or more of the time.

  1. Veggies (raw mostly) local organic the best than organic, fresh, than down the line.
  2. Fruit (local organic best) organic, fresh, and down the line.
  3. Grass fed free range meat.
  4. Organic Free range local chicken, turkey, eggs (find a local farmer for best)
  5. walnuts, almonds, cashews
  6. olive oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil
  7. Water (the only thing people should drink)
Planet Green

let's get with it and teach people the real deal when it comes to health and the environment and let's get experts that are super fit, healthy and not just some celebrity's that have no clue or don't even look the part.  how about just hiring a staff of experts on the panel to really teach these people how to be healthy.

I know this may sound strict though if you want to be healthy mind, life, and body, you got to change your lifestyle your thinking and your friends.  Live it, be it, and do the right thing and it's a life long journey for success.

live with passion.

Periodization

In weight training, periodization is the practice of varying the training regimen at regular intervals to bring about optimal results for the trainee. Proven benefits of periodization include improved muscular endurance, strength and power, enhanced motor performance, and increased muscle mass. Periodization works for short training durations, like weeks or months, as well as long periods of time like years, or the length of an athlete's career.

By incorporating periodization into his/her training regimen, an athlete can pre-arrange their peak performa
nce for a specific point in time, like a major fitness competition. The same process can be applied with equal success by an amateur athlete or fitness trainee. The fact is, periodization will help you achieve maximal results in the shortest amount of time.

Numerous variables can be adjusted to optimize an exercise program:

  • number of different specific exercises
  • number of sets per exercise
  • number of reps per set
  • types of exercises
  • rest periods between sets
  • level of resistance
  • type and tempo of muscle movement
  • number of training sessions per week

With regard to these variables, it is volume and intensity, specifically, that are adjusted in a periodization training program.

Intensity refers to the level of difficulty involved in performing each activity (I.e., how heavy you lift); volume refers to the number exercises, sets, and reps performed during a single session. These variables are mutually conflicting, in that the muscle only has so much strength and endurance, and takes time to recover. As a result, increasing volume by any significant amount necessitates decreasing the intensity, and vice-versa.

All of Scott White’s customized weight training programs apply periodization. If you’ve hit a plateau with your progress in pursuit of your fitness goal, call Scott today to give periodization a try. You will be thrilled with the phenomenal results you achieve!

Ball Room Dancing Testimonial

As a competitive ballroom dancer, I have no choice but to stay in great shape. However, I was a little bored with my current routine and felt I had hit a plateau.  To prepare for the United States Dance Championships, I wanted to take my fitness to another level.  My goals were to get leaner and stronger through the core of my body so that I could be faster and more precise with my movement.  Scott White came highly recommended to me and I can certainly understand why.  He was a perfect fit for me.  Within two weeks I saw major results.  What I love the most about Scott is that he listens to your goals and pays attention to what your body needs.  He pushes you hard, but only in directions he knows you can go.  I also appreciate that he puts safety first so injuries are unlikely on his watch (something many trainers slack on).   Scott gives you his complete attention and the training time flies by since you’re working so hard.  Make no mistake, it’s hard work, but if you stick with it, you’ll thank yourself (and Scott) later.  My biggest piece of advice for success…..listen to Scott’s nutrition advice.  I attribute a big part of my success to changes in my diet.  I was actually pretty healthy already, but a few dietary switches made all the difference.  Thanks a million, Scott.

Suzanne Peterson PhD, Competitive Latin/Ballroom dancer, Scottsdale AZ
